I know that most manufactuerers are backordered, and that AR15's availability from them are severely crippled, but what about Gun shows and the like? Are vendors and gun dealers raising their prices through the roof? i haven't had a chance to shop around myself, and there is a huge gunshow coming up here in Houston. What are the chances i'll be able to go and find an AR for the same price i did 6 months ago?

The story is the same across the country.  Gun show "merchants" have increased their prices to take advantage of the frenzy.  There are still deals to be found, you just have to be patient and look.  All the good deals are usually snatched up very quickly.  I went to the Orlando gun show today and prices, including the ticket price to the show itself, have significantly increased from six months ago.

I was at a show on sat and yes the prices are being raised, in my neck of the woods at least.  One guy was asking nearly 400 for a stripped dpms lower, the cheapest lower that i did see was still over 200, and mags are gettin' ridiculous.

I was going to order a parts kit, but with a six month waiting list it seems pointless.

I'll likely sell my lowers.

Right after the election I was seeing Sabre M4's for $1175 at the shows around here. Didn't see any price gouging on weapons really. A few people walking around with Colts were being retarded, but other than that, normal pricing.

The other guys are right.  Check the .commers.  There are plenty of off beat but honest dealers that do not advertise nere that have items in stock and are not gouging.  Ex. I found a dealer that had 2 STAG stripped lowers in stock and shipped same day for $125 each.  That was on 12-30-08!!!

So just click around.

I've NEVER been so glad to not be shopping for an AR.  I've got about what will keep me happy about forever, barring a chance to get a dedicated .22rf upper.  We can't really bitch about people raising prices; if we want those same guys to be in business in two years (and still selling us stuff) they need to make money while they can.

There are Colorado dealers with lowers and parts kits in stock. Go look at the Colorado site you'll see a couple of them.
