I just submitted my form 4 for an AAC M4-2000 it is going on a 10.5" LMT.
My question is buffer weights. What weight should I run? I was looking at the JP captured buffer as well. Anyone have experience with this combo or similar? |

Suppressed will up your gas pressure, causing rapid cycling with hot ammo, and acceptable function even with weak ammo.
If you don't have an adjustable gas block, you may want to keep a much heavier buffer (Colt 9mm or H3 or Spike's T2) on hand in case bolt speed gets ludicrous when shooting your favorite ammo brand. Hopefully, nothing will change and your gun is already deep enough in the sweet spot to handle any variation without modification - but a heavy buffer is a good way to hedge against problems. I run a Bushmaster 10.5 "Heavy Machinegun Barrel" upper both suppressed (Triple-X Warrior) and unsuppressed on a Spike's spider lower with a plain old H buffer, and it runs fine with or without the can attached. |

My friend runs a T2 in his 12" and has no issues I imagine thats what I will drop in there when I get my tax stamp back. I am more curious about the JP captured spring than anything. I tried the JP spring in my 10.3 SBR with Gemtech Trek Ti, had nothing but issues with it, went back to Spikes T2 w/FA BCG and havent had any issues. IMO, the JP stuff is great for race guns, low mass, light guns. |

Run of thumb, figure out what is needed to get the rifle to run correctly now (bolt locking back, but not excessive recoil from the buffer over slamming off the back of the receiver extension, then go 2 buffers heaver for supressed.
So if it turns out the rig runs correctly with a standard buffer, then a H2 for canned should work out fine. If H2 as the standard, then 9mm buffer for canned should work out well. If the game plan is to run 69gr plus ammo, then go 3 heaver sizes up instead with these ammo (standard to a H-3). |
