This might have to fall under the early morning half drunken rant department but, I'll buy my cheap uzi mags and have them notched before I'll send someone $300 for 4 colt 9mm 20 rnd mags.
Sorry to bring this mighty forum down to my level.

Mark, glad to see you down here! It's kinda dark -- wonder how many more people are here?

I built my pistol caliber rifles to just shoot with -- not for work. I agree with you about spending the kind of money the colt mags go for -- I need the money to make more neat stuff.
Another reason I found is I have a 357sig upper and the rounds work great in the Uzi mags and I can screw with the uzi's without the worry of really dorking up a $125/$150 mag.

Hey, this is neat:

12 x25 round Colt 9mm mags = $1200
12 x25 round notched Uzi mags + semi Uzi = $1200(!)

You can even get Joeblack to put bolt hold-opens in the uzi mags, and you still are up something like $50-60 a magazine!

yeah Underdog, I ran an average 45 seconds behind you trying to buy SA mags the last 5 or 6 times you scarfed them up in the equipment exchange.[:)]

i feel your pain.  Ive been snagging UZI mags when I see a deal here and there.  Still got a case full of stens on standby for one of those Sten/Colt projects.  The Stens were a lot cheaper to stockpile than the UZI mags [:d]

SBR7_11,
If I can ever stop spending money on projects, I got to start saving up to buy one of those Hy-Tech magblocks so I won't even have to worry about getting notches cut in my Uzi mags. Cheap is good! I made that Uzi magwell thing for my AR but that was just a quickie project and I think the Hy-Tech looks a heck of a lot better.
