I don't have the Super Searching Powers to look in the archives and such, and in the four pages of topics, I did not see one that was devoted to discussion of batteries.  I think it would be a good idea to have a topic for batteries tacked/sticky so we can all refer to it.  It would also be a good place for people like Calvin and Grant to update us on the new happenings in the battery world and what they might have in stock.

So how is the wind blowing in terms of CR123 batteries this week?  I keep hearing people (in real life) admonishing to never use "Chinese" batteries in Surefires and other high quality lights, and I understand that some of them can cause problems.  But how many are not made in China even if the parent company is in the USA?  And how do you really know?

So far I've had great luck with the Battery Station based on recommendations from both here and bladeforums.com.  They're made in China, but I'm not losing much sleep over using them.

Anyone else?

I never heard of them, would like to know where to get them

I have been buying Surefire Batteries at a little bit of a high price but I am comfortable with them.  I recently bought some Digi Light batteries, it says High output Lithium Flashlight Battery and so far I have had good luck with them.  I bought them at a gun show for $10 for 8 of them

OpticsHQ + Membership ... gives just about the lowest prices around ... just about a dollar a battery.

However, I have not looked into this Calvin fellows offerings yet.

I have not bought batteries from Calvin but have bought lights from him.  He's a great dealer and will take care of you.

I can't find just the precut 123a battery foam anywhere.  I also hate the pick & pluck foam.

I bought the case with the pre cut foam included for 15 bucks... from BOTACH.

+1 on the BatteryStations.

IIRC, Calvin at BF sells them for a little over $1 each by the dozen, plus shipping.

I've had good luck with Battery Station CR123 cells too, but I feel better when I hear that others are using them with no problems as well.  And of course, they're made in China, for what it's worth.

I bought all of mine in the past directly from Battery Station, but I'd probably get some from Calvin if I were ordering some other stuff too.
