| Ive got a DPMS complete from the factory. If I in the future decide or end up having to get a new bolt or BCG for my rifle, is there something specific I need to be aware of when it comes to standards of different bolts/parts/sizes/specs/will work in this one/won't work in this one. Ive been interested in maybe a better quality bolt, being simple minded I assume I just buy one to my preference and it drops right in? My gut is telling me its not so simple.... |

Here's a C&P from BCM....
Milspec Carpenter No. 158® Steel HPT Bolt (High Pressure Test/ Proof) MPI Bolt (Magnetic Particle Inspected) Shot Peened Bolt Tool Steel Extractor BCM® Extractor Spring Black Extractor Insert Staked gas key Some of the lower price point BCG's have to skip proof testing to meet the price point. The above are good standards to compare other BCG's to. |

Yes, you can get a new BCG and drop it in no problem.
BCM, LMT, Daniel Defense, Colt...those are the 4 I would look at. And yes you can put an auto BCG in your semi-auto AR. It's perfectly legal, and some believe it enhances reliability because of the heavier mass of the bolt carrier slowing down the cycling slightly. I don't personally think it matters much in a semi, I've had auto and semi bcg's in my AR's and I can tell no difference. |
