Is there anything special or different about the cotter pin in an AR BCG?

Can I go down to the local hardware store and pick up some spares?

I believe that hey are harder than a hardware store cotter pin. You might use a hardware store pin for a temporary replacement, but don't expect it to last.

Order a few, they do break and get lost easy. What happened to yours?

One is getting a little hard to get in and out, no pun intended.

It's one of the itty-bitty parts I don't have spares of.

Thanks

I personally stick to rifle replacement parts that meet their individual specifications. The hardware store might be ok for replacement buttonhead cap screws or the like, but I draw the line at trying to substitute specific rifle parts.

I found some AR cotter pins locally.  I can get a few for spares.

The AR that needs the pin is in pieces, pending a repair and rebuild for PR so it's not a national emergency.

Thanks
