I'm getting ready to order a few spare BCGs, and was wondering if the sdditional cost for the MPI process is worth it?  Obviously it's a "peace-of-mind" thing, but is it worth an additional $70-or-so Bucks?

Where are you seeing non-mpi'd bolts that are $70 cheaper than a BCM BCG?

It's not just MPI you are paying for.  The top quality bolts are usually 158 Carpenter steel, shot peened, HPT and MPI.  It is an overall high quality package.  You can save $10-$20 on a cheaper BCG but why?  It's the heart of the gun.

Great points.  Honestly, I didn't realize there was that big a difference in the bolts, as the "MPI Inspected" seems to be the major selling point difference.  I'm gonna order a number of them, so the price does make a difference, but not enough to pass over all the additional processes.

Thanks.

I would stick with BCM or get Denny's Super Duty M16 BCGs.

Yup.That's who I ordered from......7 of 'em.  I saw that the MPI-inspected ones were shot-peened, Carpenter Steel, etc., but didn't know what, if any of those things were included in the lower-priced ones.  With BCM's reputation, I'm sure the "regular" ones are fine, but all those upgrades are good added insurance.  It's only money, right?

So did you get the BCMs or the Denny's SD M16?

Oops, sorry.  The BCM.

It's the bolt carrier configuration that is used in the M-16. They are allowable for use in an AR-15. They are NOT illegal to use in an AR.

they're a little heavier in that the carrier has a little more material.  many claim that they run a little smoother due to the extra weight.

Newb question–– will I notice a difference in performance between the Dennys and the Bravo Company?  I'm assuming the Dennys will last longer, have a smoother action, etc.  Please let me know if I am wrong.
