If I get this upper:
http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-16-Mid-Length-Upper-Receiver-Group-p/bcm-urg-mid-16.htm How hard is it to put on the Magpul Handguard? What tools will I need? |
| A hand guard removal tool makes this task a breeze. It isn't necessary, but can save you some scraped knuckles and curse words. Watch this video from Brownell's and you can see the process yourself. |

I would strongly recommend getting the midlength gas upper that you originally posted, and the MOE handguards should be out very soon. +1 on that. Don't get a 16" carbine over a 16" mid just b/c the MOE mid handguards aren't out yet. Get the mid-length gas system, slap on some Cav Arms C8's, and shoot the crap out of it until the MOE's are released. |

+2 on that. +42 If you don't plan on swapping handguards often, and don't feel like buying the specific tool for it...........just 2 sets of hands is more than enough to tackle the job. One person pulls down on the delta ring, the other person pulls the handguards out. Even on new guns where the delta ring is a little more "stiff", it's an easy task for 2 people. Hell, you can do it alone if you have to. I've had to pull handguards off before, and didn't have another set of hands handy. It was a pain, but I got it done. |

Why is that? Just wondering? Why Carbine < Middy Softer recoil impulse= faster follow up shots. Longer dwell time= reduced chamber pressure= increased life of guts and increased reliability (in theory). Mid-lengths are in their sweet spot for 14.5-16" barrels, and IMHO there is no reason to get either of those lengths with a carbine length system. |
