After changing my mind dozens of times, I think I finally found the setup that I like. I'm looking on the Bravo Company web page and was wanting a 14.5" barrel with a 10" free float. I was curious if the low-profile gas block that they have installed would be as robust as a fixed fsb and chopping it down to fit under the quad rail?

ETA:
I can save $100 by cutting the FSB, and installing the rail myself. With that in mind, would it be worth buying it with the rail installed or buying the rail seperate and cutting the FSB?

The gas block is protected by the rail & it's from BCM....so yes.

Will it be as robust?  NO.  Does it need to be since it's under the rail?  I don't think so.

Pin the gas block and it will be.

IMO, just get the set up you want, day one.  Considering specs, parts and quality of work, BCM has a very fair price.  They make solid uppers that are made to go to hell and back.  Don't go butchering a solid piece of weaponry.

After cutting my 4th fsb then months later wanting to go from a FF tube to std handguards I regret cutting the fsb and will never do it again when I can buy a lo-pro gas block for $35. If the gb is under a rail then it's fine.

I just don't see what option I have? I am wanting to put a CASV-M on a carbine length gas system with a 14.5" barrel. I can't take my FSB off of my rifle because of my pinned flash hider.I love the carbine length gas system, but I don't like the short sight radius.

I don't know how the CAVS-M mounts up but do you replace the barrel nut with it? If so your SOL with the pinned deeal any way.

Either way;

Beware BCM put's there FSB pins in with a press, getting them off is hard, as in I could not get mine off with out using force I was not comfortable with. I ended up cutting my off with a cutting wheel.
