How solid is the kmr? My 13 troy alpha wiggles a bit with pressure. I wanted to build a rifle with fixed sights on a ff tube. If they were any more snug at lockup, you'd have to beat em on with a hammer. They're stiff as hell too, i'm assuming that's due to the Octagonal shape of the tube and the alloy in sure doesn't hurt either. I can't get any sort of flex out of a 13", superior to a Troy tube in every way, imo and yes I did have those to compare but is no comparison. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Sorry if this question has already been answered but, how does the KMR fit on a Vltor upper...any problems with fit on this upper?
|

Vey nice plouffedaddy ! IMHO nicest one so far. Would like to see it with the KMR also done in the kryptek highlander pattern.

Hopefully by Sat They sold out really quickly....and remembering last year when they had KMR 14.5 uppers listed and had that computer glitch that sent out confirmation emails and charged cards...followed by phone calls telling us the bad news.... I am not celebrating just yet....still waiting for the shipping notification..... Got my notification from UPS with a tracking number so....yee ha! KMR15 Back in Stock KMR9 now in stock & OOS Again |

How about pre 2014 Vltor MUR 1A uppers...will all previous production vltor uppers work without fit issues with the KMR.

I think that what is referred to as Noveske/Vltor in the above post is a charging handle and I was asking about the Vltor MUR 1A upper receiver fit to the KMR handrail.

Any pics of a 10" KMR on a 10.5 inch barrel?

I'm planning on running a KAK flash can on mine and wanted to be sure I'd have the room to tighten it down. The next choice was a claymore though lol |

Back in December 2012, SAW Sales listed a Colt "LE6991" on their website, which is what they called a Colt 9mm AR SBR with a 10" barrel. It looks exactly like the Colt SMG, except without the "giggle switch." So I ordered it and proceeded to mod it. Here is how she looked recently, although I had since added a Magpul VFG and moved the light to the opposite side.
After a stupidly long wait, the suppressor I wanted for this gun finally arrived, the Gemtech Mk-9k. Now, I know I won't get any sympathy whining about the 13 month wait for this suppressor, but as an SOT, I really should have had it August 2013, not July 2014. During this time, Keymod rails were starting to appear and gain in popularity. I thought that a 10" Keymod rail would look pretty good on my 9mm SBR, so I had plans to buy one to replace the CASV-ELG you see above ( FOR SALE IN THE EE. My concern was how long the rail could be and still fit the suppressor. The Mk-9k is a FAT suppressor at 2" in diameter. So it was never going to fit under a rail. But my hope was that the trilug mount would fit under the rail and a 10" rail on a 10" barrel would leave enough room to make it all work. What that meant was that I couldn't buy a rail until I had the Mk-9k in hand, and I could take some measurements. Well, today was the day that the suppressor arrived, and I didn't want to waste any more time finding a new rail! So I did my research today and bought locally (Thanks Rainier Arms for being local!) The rail I selected was the BCM KMR 10" rail. Installation was fairly easy, especially with the right tools. I'm pretty impressed with the way they designed the rail. I have read some concerns about the durability of the finish. Well, I will see. Nothing a rattlecan can't fix..... A 10" barrel with a Gemtech trilug adapter with the 10" BCM KMR rail: Note the very little bit that extends past the rail. Now here is where things get "snugly", mounting the Mk-9k. The ID of the rail is barely larger than the OD of the trilug mount on the Mk-9k. Close up of the end of the rail and the Mk-9k: So snugly in fact that the knurled portion of the trilug mount was just a shade too large to fit under rail. I thought this may be the case, so I was prepared for what had to happen. I took a file to the knurled portion of the mount and smoothed it down just enough to fit under the rail. You can see in the picture that the knurled ring is now silver, where it was once black. That is not a choice that many would be willing to make. But hey, I'm an SOT, so I can buy replacement parts at cost if i need to! Now that the knurling has been knocked down enough, it fits under the rail just perfectly. And how she looks as a "complete package": |

Word on the street is the metal mixture used in the KMR does not conduct or transfer heat as well as aluminum rails. Is this true, if so, how much so by mag dumps? I don't see alot of 15inch KMRs are they out yet? I need it for 18 inch build of awesomeness.
