Hey users of the Mod 1 comp how loud is it compared to an A2 flash hider? I've only ever used A2s on 14.5 barrels and want to know how different it is. I like what the comp markets itself as snd wanted to get some input on it.
- just to clarify I NEVER shoot without earpro.

if you always use earpro you won't have an issue or notice anything greatly different besides greater recoil mitigation.

Without ear protection, it's noticeably louder than an A2. Sometimes on the farm I'll pop some rounds off without earpro. A2 never bothered me much. But the BCM comp had my right ear hurting after 1 round. That being said, I still like it and it's not anywhere near as bad as some of the other comps out there.  And like the guy before me said, if you wear your ear pro, you'll be fine.

I have the Mod 0 on a 16" BCM middy and noticed it was quieter than the Saiga being shot next to me. Not sure that helps much, just thought i'd mention it. I always wear muffs and it makes a healthy thud without being too loud at all. The Saiga next to me also had a brake that had decent side concussion, causing me to time my shots to his. It wasn't bothering me at all, but the guy noticed, apologized,  and slid further foward on his bench. A short while later, he noticed my comp and said he was surprised at how little side blast it gave off compared to his. I too went with this comp for faster follow up shots and to not ring the bell of flanking shooters, and BCM definitely delivered.

That's what I'm hoping for. As far as I know I've never shot around someone who uses a brake so this will be my first experience with any kind of comp.

With ear plugs or muffs, I haven't noticed any difference between the BCM Mod 1 comp and the A2 flash hider on a 16" barrel gun.

From the shooter perspective, it's no different than a A2 with ear pro on.

From anywhere but directly behind the gun (being the shooter), it is significantly louder (even with ear pro).

I concur with the general consensus.  Notice no difference shooting (always ear pro). A bit louder from the side but not as bad as mb556 or fsc556.

It's a lot louder!!!!! One that I like better and it's cheaper is the Griffin Armament comp. check it out.

Like others have said the noise from the shooter's perspective is about the same. If you are standing to the side of the muzzle then it is much louder. In a closed environment it will be louder to the shooter.

Its about as loud as a .308. Side blast is a more then an A2, but on the low side as far as comps go.

Recoil and flash reduction is excellent imo too.

This has been my experience as well.  Even with earpro on it rocked me.
