Don't know if this is old news but news to me. This is sweet. This with a Geissele mk8 rail would be pretty tits.

It's all good until you need to remove the gas block to replace the barrel nut...
I love BCM but I get their stripped barrels so I don't deal with their gas block install methods. Out of curiosity what are their gas block install methods that make them so difficult? I've never bought a complete from BCM, just stripped barrels, gas blocks, parts kits, etc. Thanks! |

Well, that's dumb as shit.
Why go with a bare barrel nut and LPGB, then charge a grand for it? It'd just about be cheaper to buy a BCM lower and a KMR upper half. They should have gone with a FSB and delta ring setup if they're going to charge that much. There is no way in hell the BCM grip, trigger, charging handle and QD endplate are worth $200 over the Colt OEM. And hell, I can have the Colt for $750, delivered. |

I just attempted to remove one from a BCM upper and snapped the Allen wrench flush inside of the nut. Ended up with a damaged barrel after drilling it out. I have been a dedicated BCM fan for a while and owned around 10 of their uppers. The last one I bought was a 14.5 midlength and it wouldn't even cycle PMC. I understand that they recommend not using weak ammo but I think I'm done with their stuff and will start building from select parts from various manufacturers. |

Seriously though, I believe they should ease off the red Loc-tite and use a thread locker that can take high heats but can be removed more easily like blue Loc-tite and also pin the gas block. It seems really seems like BCM goes overboard with the red loctite to avoid pinning the gas block.

| I was recommended to use loctite 680 green bearing retaining compound on the gas blocks by a manufacturer many years ago, amd have done so along with dimple, pinning amd screw staking for many years. Ive never had any ill effects doing it this way and that block is NOT moving. That said, ive never had to try and remove them either. |
