I am considering a Beta C 100 round Dual Drum for .223   Which one is best?  Bag, lube, screwdriver, loader nessesary? Is there something new going on with finishes? I wonder if PLASTIC is good? Are they worth $234-$260? Where to buy on-line?

tag, im haveing the same thoughts,

and if you didn't know they recently started makeing them with a clear backplate so you can see how many rounds are left,

i was wondering if the clear was as durbale as the soldi black, and if it would scratch and scuff easy i mean after a while would you still be able to see through clear plastic that had lots of dust inside off dirty ammo or scuffs outside.

I have used mine 11 times, twice with a clear back upgrade. I don't have any issues to report.

That being said, I do not low crawl through sand or play on the "two way range". I like pulling it out and seeing the looks I get at the range. Especially with the "Elmer Fudds" trying to zero in there deer rifles.

I say everyone should have one in the closet, if anything just to piss of a libtard

ETA: get the package with the speed loader, it will work with all of your mags and take all types of stripper clips.

i ordered one last night, just the mag and extra lube no case or speedloader saved me about 50 bucks doing so

will see how i like it ow i just need to buy a case of ammo

Clear is not as strong because it does not have the glass fiber in it.

true i mean it depends how rough you are on them, i didn't like it because im a fanattic about keeping everything black or cammo, but then again its more realistic to know how much ammo you have left, and the replacement back panels are like 20-30 bucks so its a simple fix if and when and i doubt they would sell a product that wouldn't stand up to a little abuse.

what is the militarys oppinion on these, will they let you use a c mag? do they buy any of them?

How is the reliability of a Beta C?  Any feeding issues and such?

That's the whole reason I have one...and it has an even better effect in the Nazi state of NY. They love "high capacity feeding devices" here.
I like mine...don't know if it's worth the money (especially the premium we pay for pre-bans here) but it's fun!

Sort of like buying a sports car...not realy much NEED for it...it's more of an emotional purchase than a rational one if you know what I mean

you are going to need a loader of some sort.  Loading them by hand does not work well for me.

ive got to look at them and the loaders, ive used similar loaders that jam and foul up i can do a constant slow rate by hand rather than a fast irregular rate and still get the job done just like i wa sloading a 30 so i should be fine, what i really think i should have got was the rubber dust cover guess a rubber glove or balloon will do the trick too

I got one with a clear back, I dumped a mag one day just to see what kind of reaction I would get.

The loader is worth it.  Big time.

My opinion; "over-rated".

I bought my Beta C mag just after the AWB sunset.
I gave $235 for it, loved it.
The only reason I bought it was for a novelty item.
During the AWB, the damn things sold for as high as $800 each!

After I took it to the range with 100 rounds loaded, it failed to feed about every 5 rounds.
I downloaded the "manual" from their website and found that the roller bearings were installed wrong. (From increased production due to demand and low quality control, I'd bet). I reassembled my brand new mag and I've never shot with it since.

There was a thread on here a year or two ago about the mag capacity versus the cost.

100 round Beta C mag = $235
the same capactiy in 30 round mags (now with .44 mag selling them even cheaper) = about $40.

Do the math, it's just a novelty item.

My advice, get one if you want one. They neat as hell to own and one day, a Dem will be back in the house and another AWB will be in place, except next time, it will be BIGGER and BROADER.

The equation might look different if you factor in the value of your time doing a reload in a situation where it was important.
Many people say they aren't suitable for actual military field use but I have heard they are in use by some active duty people none the less.

Like many people already mentioned, when the AWB was ready to sunset, everyone was asking, "what are you going to buy when it ends ?"
Well, I couldn't think of anything I wanted or needed at the time. During the ban I simply worked more OT and bought the pre-ban stuff.
But, soon after the sunset it hit me: I am going to buy one of those Beta Mags. That will be my purchase to thumb my nose at the democrats.
I bought it, loaded it up and fired it dry.
Ran flawlessly.
Actually, now that I think about it, I did a full mag dump on a friends M16 and it ran flawlessly also.

Within the last year I bought another one for my 9mm AR15.
Loaded it up several times and it ran flawlessly.
This one I will actually use. Out here in the West there are still places where you can actually plink. Whisky Tangos dump their trash like cars, home appliances, computers and such. I walk around through all the junk blowing the crap out of it. That beta mag is sweet for that.

FWIW, I bought both mine with the loaders and the graphite. I obviously don't have a lot of experience with it but I liked the loader and would definitely buy it with the loader again.

I have actually considered buying one for my M1A.
Talk about something that is totally useless. That must weight a ton. The rifle is heavy to begin with.
But, I am a sucker for something that I know will be banned eventually by the democraps.

got mine ive oply shot abotu 20 rounds through it but it works great, i did notice that its set-up so when your last round goes through the bolt will not lock open.

guess its obvious when you run out of ammo though, the feed stack has got some wear on it, just form loading the ammo, it hasen' gotten any worse though but for $14 i would recommend ordering a replacement at the same time just so you have one on hand and wont need to pay shipping on one later if the need comes.

other than that i look forward to putting in for 3 tax stamps when i turn 21 unless all hell breaks loose theres no need for that much ammo if you dont have an automatic

I have one (m-16/ar-15)and like it.  Im thinking of getting a few more hedging on an overturn of our govt.  I figure if the antis regain congress we're f'd.  We got lucky with the last sunset - wont happen again.  I have plenty of 30 rounders and a 100 round mag dump is WAY cooler than a 30 round mag dump.  Plus Im not paying 8+K for a shrike upper with beta's in the $200-250 range.

I asked my neighbor (an ex-SF guy) about them (he never knew they were called 'beta mags') and he told me they just called them 'drums'.  He said they used them occassionally and never had any probs, other than theyre heavy.  He did mention using them in Afghanistan before he retired.

This is the only person Ive ever asked in the services about them.  The general arfcom consensus is the mags are not enough durable for military service.  In any case I think theyre cool and will be getting a few for my 9mm subguns....

I bought my first one with the pouch, loader and tool.  After that I started buying just the mag.  I think there awesome.  Not much use if you plan on walking or running much I would guess.  Maybe you could carry one in the field.  They have become one of those standard Xmas gifts that I get for my family.  Simply because I anticipate the value to soar back up some day.  And like a 1911 and apple pie, every american home needs one.

I anxiously await the 308 drum.

Marine Corp web site I looked at a couple months ago said that the clear ones break too easily.  Didn't even know that they were issued them.

My feelings exactly.  I have the sports car to go with it too.  Like a earlier poster said, it's fun to put a quick hundred downrange while some guy is sighting in his muzzle loader.  Most guys are cool but some give you that immature behavior look.  Hey, I bought it to use it.  The first time I considered buying one was just after the AWB.  It was one of the first items I purchased when the ban ended.  I would not pay the outrageous prices demanded during the ban.  I keep mine set up on my Colt pre ban 20" equipped with a Harris bipod and Aimpoint sight.  The fully loaded weapon is a little heavy but if I want mobility I will grab the 14 1/2 with a EOTech and 30 rounder.  And yes it does piss off the anti gunners.
