| I have a varminter with a big optic on it and was wondering what latch you guys recommend |
|
YMMV, but my LR AR rifle has the standard CH on it - but then the Lepuy scope on it has decent eye-relief and it don't overhang the CH like many of the ones I see around here using cheap short eye-relief or improperly mounted scopes. Were I to use one suspect it'd be the PRI. mike |
| My opinion is; for a varmint gun you don't need a special latch. They are only useful for quick mag changes (CQB). My Issue M4 has the one that is a square as the handle. The extra leverage to the left side of the handle actually causes some drag because it pulls to the right. It is easier to catch though. It is up to you if you want one but save your $20 and buy more ammo. I just dont see that big of an advantage for it in varmint shooting. |
+1 Pro: faster clearing for combat Con: pulls to one side which wears the anodizing off of the Aluminum (you can smell it) and drags a bit too |

i use a badger tac latch on my varmint rifle and wouldnt have it any other way, its very handy when u have glvoes on and all you winter gear i would definetely get one if i were you, true your hunting not running around shooting a bunch of ammo at paper and dropping mags and inserting new ones all over the place but im pretty certain the larger latch has a very nice place on a varmint rig its up to u though just my opinion hope this helps adam |
