How long does the average bolt last ?![]() ![]()

A good MPI shot peened bolt should last 10-15K rounds.
Look at THIS THREAD. |

Maybe a better question would be, How can you tell you need a new Bolt?
Are people checking headspace every couple of thousands of rounds? OR Worn bolts start to cause problems, giving symptoms that show a worn bolt that can be fixed by replacing it? OR do they just fail, i.e. physical break, and thus you need a bolt? |

Average like RRA or STAG and then up to YOUNG and LMT. Every Young I have seen was marked CM as is Stag, both are CMT. DPMS is starting to use CM marked bolts. BCM uses MPI tested CM bolts. LMT uses an Advanced Armament bolt wich is also MPI inspected. I would expect any CMT bolt that didn't fail in the first 100 rounds to last as long as an MPI tested CMT bolt or LMT bolt. I know nothing about RR bolts but have never had an issue with those I have owned. They are not marked and I think one has around 15K on it. |
