I went with a LaRue fixed BUIS.

It's the lightest BUIS made and looks like it's rock solid.  It has less moving parts to break and has a throw lever for easy on and off.

I can't wait to get my first FT upper to install all my stuff I've bought.

Here's a tread about the Larue BUIS

The LMT BUIS, KAC 600m, and the ARMS 40 series all seem to be good choices, but I think it comes down to personal preference. Are you going to want the BUIS to be out of the way when you're using an optic is probably the biggest question.

I just got a Troy Industries front and rear BUIS, and really like them. The rear is about the lowest profile you can get (or at least from what I've seen). They are very rigid in the up and locked position.

If you think you won't have a problem with the BUIS when you get your optic, than I think a fixed rear BUIS is the way to go I.e., LMT, Larue etc.. because they have less moving parts. (IMHO) It seems that both of these are designed to allow useage with an Aimpoint but not with an ACOG.

Just my .02 cents worth.

I really like both  the LMT BUIS and Eotech 512.   I wasnt sure how well it would work with the LMT BUIS  being an absolute cowitness.   But I  hardly even notice the rear sight  apeture when using the eotech.

well if my AK sells soon I am defintley getting a Eotech...

I am such a impulse buyer, dealers must love me.....

If I was going to go the LMT route I would just buy me a carry handle (about $30 less) and cut the bugger down.  Save some $$, do your own labor, learn a little more about the rifle while you are at it.

I put on the YHM flip up rear site on my rifle, it seems to work real well.

I say go with a ARMS #40, those solid BUIS's are big and bulky.  I like the option of having a flip sight that will stay out of the way until needed.

I love the LMT BUIS.  If you have the large aperture up and focus on your target then you won't even see the sight when using an EoTech.  I don't know about Aimpoints or anything else.  The BUIS is sweet, it's seems very rugged and I like the elevation adjustments.  MJD

LMT fixed BUIS behind an Aimpoint. Its all a matter of personal preference.

Before the current LaRue trend, there was the LMT trend since all the high speed military types used the LMT.

I have the same handguards and they are very solid. The top rail portion (which also includes the side rails) does not move one bit. It seems like it is part of the upper. The lower rail portion moves just a hair, but that is okay because the only thing I (and most people) mount on the lower rail is a TD forward grip. Overall, I think it is the best value for two-piece rails (over the RAS and RIS).
