Do they practically kiss when the BUIS is up or is there more space between them?  Just wondering what is recommended.

Generally you see the BUIS on the last possible slot and the red dot as far forward on the upper receiver as you can.

BUIS should be as far back on the rail as possible.  That creates the longest sight radius between front and back iron sights and the greatest potential accuracy.  It has nothing to do with the position of the RDS.

No idea why the poster above has rear BUIS but no front iron sight - unless it's a flip-up buried in the rail - which is a possibility.

Nope, just haven't ordered one yet

The pistol is the one I was referring to, the second picture of the rifle is just showing the rear buis in relation to the red dot.

You'd be surprised what the small peep aperture will do to sharpen up that red dot.  I've shot some of my tightest groups with a rear peep and no front sight up.

Stock looks pregnant.  Guess that's to be expected when leaving ARs alone in a dark safe for extended periods of time.  In a few weeks you'll probably find a stripped receiver somewhere in the recesses of the safe.

Can't have a stock on a pistol ;)

That's a Sig Stabilizing brace on a 10.5'' pistol

In what way does that sharpen it?  Takes off blurred edges?

As far as the BUIS, I will put that as far back and the RDS as far forward as I can.  Just to be sure, I see the windage know should be on the right with a MBUS.  That way, when it flips up, it flips forward and not backward, correct?

It sharpens it by turning it into an almost perfect dot since most people see it as a starburst in bad lighting.

ETA: Yes to Magpul question.

It changes your focus point and helps people with astigmatisms see clearly.

Correct. It should flip forward so you can see the hash marks

Not to be a rube, but wouldn't that slow down your aiming process?  I though the RDS was for quick acquisition?  Maybe because you are not lining up with FSB?

Notice the guy said when shooting groups or from my experience sighting in my optic. When not shooting groups or sighting in then flip your sights down and use red dot like it was made for.

It's all in the context, good point.
