I need to mount a USO SN3 in a La Rue SPR-S over a BUIS. What are my options?

Does anyone have any data on the folded height of:

KAC 600m?
Troy?
MaTech?

TIA

*and yes, I went through all 11 pages of the tacked faq but the link to the chart does not give heights.

While I don't know about heights under scopes, I can tell you about heights under Acogs...

DPMS Mangonels fit, but are pretty wobbly.  Simple, but kinda lacking in rock solid quality.

Matechs fit, but the aperture is pretty small and you'll probably never need the drop comp out to 600 yards in a million zombie attacks.

The GG&G BUIS, both MAD & A2 both fit and are rock-frickin-solid and I would recommend them over anything I've had yet.  Bad.  Ass.

Haven't had a Troy or Kac, but honestly, after playing with GG&G, I couldn't imagine anything better.  They rock.  They take the world of BUIS and turn it to 11.

ETA:  And the GG&G MAD is lower than a snake's ass, and I would imagine would fit under most anything, moreso than their A2.

I was wondering the same as well.............I have a flat top Stag M-4 that I want to put a folding rear sight on, and was trying to decide between the GG&G A-2 and the Troy..........I like the GG&G, and it is slightly cheaper than the Troy

The Troy is great and it folds down vey flat as you can see!

I have 4 KAC 300M, 3 Troy, 1 GG&G, and 1 Matech.  The GG&G MAD doesn't fit, something is wrong with the clamp and it's crooked on all of the uppers  In any case it's like looking through a hole in a piece of paper, it has a lot of surrounding metal, I find that annoying.  The Matech occupies more space on the receiver than any, my ACOGs have to sit farther forward.

KAC 300M and Troy are my favorites.  The black plastic insert in the 300M isn't so great, if you take it off you might lose it, Troy's two apertures are part of the sight and can't be lost

I appreciate the feedback and the pics...... can anyone take a mic and mearsue some of these folded heights?

TIA

Troy, with probably the lowest 4x32 ACOG mount available, the LaRue LT-100

KAC 300M with LaRue LT-158 mount and US Optics SN3.  With its huge ocular lens, this scope isn't as accommodating in terms of a rear backup sight

KAC 300M with ARMS 19LD mount.  The 19LD is shorter and lower than the 19S, maybe a bit taller than the LT-100

OK - now we are getting somewhere...

Duffy - is the eye piece on your SN3 a standard or a low pro?

Secondly, do you have clearance to move the optic back such that the fat part of the bell sits directly over the tallest part of the KAC BUIS?

Is a 600m KAC the same as a 300m when folded?

If height were a problem - could you safely take a file to the KAC and remove material and not adversely effect the function of the BUIS?

TIA

I don't have a 600M, I could only go by the pictures  From what I can discern, where the 300M has the portion left of the windage adjustment drum machined away, on the 600M, it's solid. See KAC's website

The LaRue T-158 mount is slightly taller than the ARMS #22 high mount it replaced, even with the lower ARMS mount I had no problem moving the SN3 back and forth.  It's a 2002 or 2003 model and does not have the low profile eye piece.

I wouldn't do anything to the BUIS, what kind of scope and mount are you going to use anyhow?

Same as what you have: 1.8 - 10, just configured a little different. I ask because I want to use the standard eye piece and not the low pro. I'll be using an SPR-S as well.

I had to take a file to a Matech to get an SN4 to fit over the top of it - no big deal just removed material only where I needed to and it didn't effect the BUIS at all. I am looking to use something other than a Matech this time.

Thank you for your help.

I'll never use a Matech again even if someone were to give me one for free, it takes up more space and is taller than other better BUIS

Just to be clear - you have clearance to move the knurled portion of the eye piece back over the BUIS and still have room to turn it - right?

With the 300M, yep, because that's where the knurled part is, above the BUIS, on my AR10
