I'm finally getting into the whole flattop thing and need a rear sight to go with
the standard FSB on a 16" upper. I'm leaning toward a Larue because of its simplicity
but am open to suggestions in the moderate price range. Folding capability is okay but not a neccessity. Will be used for mainly plinking, perhaps three gun in the future. Optic will be either Eotech or Aimpoint but that's later.

I have Yankee Hill on two of my flat tops and they are well made.  They do not get a lot of press here because they are not one of the big names, but for the money they cannot bet beat.

For a fixed sight, Larue. It's what I have behind my Eotech. It's simple, nothing to flip up or break, solid as heck. It also has a nice FOV since the ears don't get in the way of your sight picture.

For folding, Troy. That's going behind/under the ACOG. I like fixed sights but the ACOG doesn't lend itself to a fixed BUIS for obvious reasons. There are other fold downs but after surveying many who are knowledgeable and experienced with other fold down sights, I settled on Troy. ARMS just has too many problems (no flames, YOU may not have problems with yours but I've heard one too many ARMS horror stories from people that have used them and have first hand experience of it failing when they needed it) There may be others besides Troy, do your homework and make your selection.

I am VERY happy with my Troy folder behind my Eotech.

ARMS # 40 is another good one.  they have several versions out, the 40L is a low profile one that will fit under most scopes.

Larue fixed. Bombproof. Simple.
