Does the size of the recoil buffer have any impact on the functionality of the rifle? I realize that it most likely requires a stronger spring to function the same, but what other side effects are there by having a short buffer on your rifle/pistol?

Also, who makes the shortest buffer tube?

There are only two sizes of receiver extensions, and only two buffers lengths that work with them.

In regards to the very short pistol tubes, the device used in them is not a buffer, but just a carrier extension, and a nightmare at best.
