What will that do for me ?  Longer sight plane ?

I put the rear like that so it did not get in the way of the charging handle.

Sight radius.

When your optic fails, and you need to use the irons, it will be easier, and more accurate to shoot with a longer sight radius. Also, you front sight post won't seem as BIG in relation to the target.

But  you don't want to move the front up too far... because then you might catch a hot flash hider or worse...

How did you rig up that sling system.  I pistol is next on my list and with a few exceptions, that looks just about what I had in mind.

The mount on the end I bought off of Ebay. It was made to go on the end of a Shotgun mag tube. The Sling is made of Braided Para Cord. the quick connect is Uncle Mikes

Took it out to the range today. Worked great once I got every thing lubed up real good.

Then after 50 to 60 rounds  it ripped the lower part off of the cartridge . Leaving the rest in the chamber.
all of the brass I picked up has 3 or 4 scratches the length of the case and the necks are really rough.

Any ideas ?

How do I get the rest of the case out ?

New DPMS Kitty Kat Upper C/L Chamber and barrel
Ace pistol buffer/ Spring and tube.

I was shooting Lake City green tip ammo

Oh what a disappoinment, hate it when ugly shows its face.  Did you notice any pull marks on the rim of the case's (indication of high pressure, trying to extract when the casing is still stuck to the chamber walls).  Notice any sharp edges going up the feed ramps...ect, the Dpms's I've owner the ramps had acute edges on them for sure.  Did you use more than on mag? Another thing Dpms is known for tight chambers, polish the crap out of it.

Great idea for the sling mounting solution!

The cases were not torn up on the end from the extractor. I will look at the feed ramps ( could that be what is scoring the cases?).
I used several kinds of mags. The chamber and barrel are chrome lined.
How do I polish the Chamber ?

Thanks for the tips
started out using some Privi Partisan in it . But it would only fire 2 or 3 rounds then it would not strip a round from the mag. When I changed to the Lake City Green Tip it was working great, Up until the point where it tore the Case apart.

To polish I'd use some JB compound some use Flitz, I believe a 410 mop or a tight fitting wad of cloth low speed on the end of drill.  On my Dpms products I broke the edges on ramps (mine seemed to be sharp as a friggin razor) and anything that felt sharp, until they felt smooth.  Don't go crazy a little at a time.  Oh try loading a live round in the chamber with the bolt locked back and tip the barrel up and see it the round slides out of the chamber, many times with a new Dpms it won't, as it should.

Have test this for short stroking, is it locking back on the last round.  Oiling until wet when new never hurts.  Some of the issue may and I say may be combination of issues from being new and possibly needing a different buffer weight or spring or a combination of both.

I got what was left of the case out . It was too dry at first. When it was working right I was running it dripping wet .  I will start working on the Feed Ramps, They are SHARP.

Thanks for the tips I will use them. It was locking back on the last round. I am using the Buffer and spring that Ace sent me.

Now this is just a thought cause I don't know exactly how you have that shotgun sling stud attached to the inside of the buffer tube, but IF the nut or bolt head is too large on the inside of the tube the buffer just maybe bouncing off of it too soon/quickly.  This could cause a/the intermitent loading problem.

The screw holding it on is does not thread into the tube at all.

Highly doubt the 9mm is going to do the trick for you.  Likely it will make it short stroke.  Lube the hell out of it and cycle the suck by hand, several hundred times.  Clean it, lube it again and test run it.  Get some commerial ammo and try it as well.

It is will work for 2 rounds then not strip a round from the mag. Someone that knows more then me about it suggested that it is cycling to fast. They told me a heavier  buffer will slow it down

Sharp lookin' build!

I had minor cycling issue due to pressure, but resolved my issues with the addition of the flaming pig and a little work-in time. She eats everything and not a problem with over 3000 rounds through her!

And they look sooo nice! LOL Nice fireball on the 6.5"

Slimm, in mine I run a CSS flat spring and I alternate between a H-Buffer and a Std. Buffer.  I am playing with the buffers to just to see what mine will run or not, and I did try a 9mm buffer with short stroking success, maybe yours will be different.  My Css Flat spring is an extra power spring.  It may be that yours is just new and tight and needs to be run dripping till broken in.  Are you using a Semi or Full auto bolt carrier as the full auto is differently heavier.  Something else I have done is to manually cycle my new AR's until I can't cycle anymore, manually breaking it in somewhat.  Typically I do around 500 strokes and have it oiled up real good and add some as you go, I've noticed after doing so a fair amount of black oily gunk that I wipe down/clean when done.  Keep the faith you'll get it to run, I too had some issues and now it's running with Wolf and locking back 9 out of 10 try's, to me thats success.

Thanks for the Pointers. I really want to get this gun working. I am going to hand cycle it tonight for awhile. I ordered a Heavier Buffer today. I am using a F/A bolt Carrier. Do you have a link to the spring ?

range report........... The flaming pig works

Put 500  rounds thru the Pistol today. Only 2 FTF. One blown primer no boom. The other one got caught on the feed ramp ?? and the case got bent.

For some reason  no one wanted to use the lanes on the sides of me at the pistol range.

4 or 5 people did come over and check it out and ask what the heck I was shooting that was so loud.

I am ready to build another one

Thanks

David ( the owner of the Gun Store) loaned me the buffer and spring out of His 9mm to try in it . It worked with the 9mm buffer and pig brake. So I put the buffer from Ace back in it and  it kept working.

Not sure of the brand it has no markings on it. After shooting it today I may go back to the KX3 .
The muzzle blast was kind of annoying to say the least . No wolf as of yet. Still using brass to break it in.
