It doesn't screw in to the barrel nut; it just slides over and is held on by 3 large screws. You can see one of those screws in the picutre you posted. Plenty sturdy enough for what *I* use a rifle for. It slides great on sandbags. Yes, it's free-floated. I like mine, so far. |

It has it's own barrel nut, which is sorta square. It installs just like a JP Vtac. You thread the barrel nut on to the receiver without the barrel in place yet. Thread it all the way down until it stops. Then back it off until it aligns straight up. I recommend loctiting the barrel nut to the receiver overnight to hold it in place. Then you slide the barrel in. There is a threaded sleeve that threads in after the barrel. This is what actually retains the barrel. I made a special wrench for installing these...  ETA: If you go the loctite route, ONLY loctite the actual square part to the receiver. Keep the loctite off the barrel and retaining sleeve. Snug the retaining sleeve down against the receiver overnight while the loctite sets up. This will keep the threads properly loaded while the loctite cures. |
