how many of you guys bought ARs during the Clinton Ban and what did they cost you? i'm curious about how much they might cost if Obama does an AWB. |

I bought a Bushmaster stock A2 during the ban. I think I paid somewhere in the $700s. Can't remember exactly. Of course it still bears the mark of that ban - no bayonet lug and no flash suppressor. Rest assured that ban was very effective in keeping me from going on a wild drive-by bayoneting spree. In the mean time, it still shoots nearly moa. The real concern under an Obama / Democrat Congress AWB, is what will the ban look like? If they have their way, it will be much more restrictive than the Clinton ban. Assuming that existing ARs and other firearms that may be subject to the ban would be grandfathered in and could still be sold so long as they were manufactured pre-ban, the price of those firearms would dramatically increase as the supply would be limited and there would be no new manufacturing and sale of them to the public. |

$1200 Olys, $1800 SP1s, $2000+ CARs I got a pre-ban Bushmaster A2 for about $1300 in 1999, post-bans were around $800 at the same shop. You had to be careful since there were a lot of people selling post-94 rifles in pre-ban configuration and making tons of money, I don't know if any of these jackasses ever got caught. It was easy enough to order pre-ban uppers and collapsible stocks by mail. I know a lot of people who just ignored the 94AWB altogether. Pre-ban GI 30rd magazines were around $30 but surplus ammo could be found around 11cpr. ETA: oddly enough there were a TON of post-ban 'LEO-marked' mags for sale, especially at pawn shops, I guess from cops selling their stuff since they could still get non-compliant stuff with a dept. letterhead. |

i have one ar right now. it's cmmg and it's pretty plain. i like it but i want another. i applied for a second job hoping to get enough money in time to get what i really want in an ar. i guess i'll start buying all the critical stuff first and then worry about the tools to build it and optics and stuff. question: have they ever banned any kind of optics along with ARs? i want an acog and it will take me a while to get the cash for that. could they possibly restrict what kind of optics you can put on your gun??? |

True that... As to the question, I bought an A3 Bushy that was about $850 at the time. Prices have gone up a little since then but who knows what might happen if NObama gets in there. |
Uhh...there's a bill in sub commitee right now (sponsered by a few Republicans |

There are 2 major reasons that we can not have a liberal in the white house for the next 4 years. First is our second amendment rights, they will be under attach the full 4 years of an Obama administration. I live in a western suburb of Chicago, trust me Obama wants the state of IL to be like Chicago, he for sure would love to see the USA be like a Chicago and most likely stricter since Dailey has been trying to get rid of all guns. Second thing to be scared about is we will have more then one Supreme Court Justice to be appointed by the next administration. The recent ruling was a 5-4 vote in favor, what happens if one of our conservative judges gets replaced by a liberal one? Well you all know it will be an express lane to loosing our second amendment rights. I would gladly pay more taxes to keep my rights. The US Gov is talking about Nationalizing our banks, even those who are not having problems. This is so dangerous! People hate to hear things like this but a Government controlled banking system and gun bans is exactly how Hitler came to power. Of course this could never happen again right? Well folks maybe not a Hitler type person but we sure could see a Government who controls everything we do. There is a very fine line between the freedoms we have and being controlled by our own Government. It is a very scary time for gun owners and citizens who desire to have freedoms. David |
