what is the difference between a heavy barrel and a regular barrel? How many rounds can you get out of a chromed barrel and a non chromed barrel |
|
Diference is weight like say a 14.5 HBAR or 14.5 M4 profile its almost a pound diference.Round count is dependant on how fast you shoot..that will determine life.15 rounds per minute rate of fire is the norm although HBARs will take more heat.Depends on what you like and prefer.Ithink an HBAR chrome lined will last longer than a comaprable lighter barrel but like I said depends on how you treat it.I like heavier barrels but have both as i have a few ARs. I do think though a lined barrel will last longer than an unlined barrel especially in full auto or rapid fire but not to sound like a broken record it will depend on how you treat it and how its used..full auto,semi-auto,match shooting..it depends.I think the general consensus is at least 20K rounds for a chromelined barrel maybe more or less depending on abuse. |
| It may not apply to you, but if you run a suppressor, you get less of an POI shift when going back and forth between shooting with/without the suppressor with the heavier barrel. I have a buddy, and he gets a pretty crazy amout of change in POI with his LE6920 and M4-2K. That's why I run heavier barrels. |
