| I know I read in here somewhere but now I can't find it. How do you tell what the stamping on the barrel means? I mean as far as if it is chrome or not. Could someone please explain the different stampings on the barrel for a Colt AR-15? Mines stamped C MP. |

Your barrel is a very early AR15/M16 type, and it is not chromed. Chrome chamber barrels were marked C MP C Fully Chromed barrels were marked C MP B (early) and C MP CHROME BORE (late). These markings are for the earlier M16/ M16A1 lightweight types. Current M16A2 type barrels are marked as shown on the Bigger Hammer website. |
