Looking to build another AR in the near future. Have everything pretty much in mind (lower, trigger, stock, handguards, etc), but am waffling between a stainless 20" Wilson Heavy (not bull) 1:8 in .223 or 5.56, and the Superior 20" medium heavy Lothar Walther with the .223 Wylde chamber.
Primary purpose for this AR will be varmints - mostly winter coyotes, which might mean some tracking and some stationary calling. Probably run mostly surplus ammo, or for that matter, what ever is available, thru it. Comments/criticism/suggestions welcomed. |
| In all honesty, if you are going to be using mil-surp or cheap plinking ammo then there is really no reason to use a quality stainless barrel. Good quality ammo has more effect on accracy than barrel quality or chamber except in extreme cases. I have a Wilson, 1-8 twist, wylde chamber, stainless, 16", heavy contour barrel on my carbine and it will shoot 1/2 MOA with 69 grain match ammo. You're really better off with a cheap barrel and quality ammo than with a match barrel and cheap ammo. Military fmj ammo is the worst bullet to use for hunting too. |

Where did you get your Wilson bbl with the Wylde chambering? |

I got mine from ADCO a few years ago for $180, but I don't see it listed on their website anymore.
Here is a 20" stainless Wilson 5.56-http://jtdistributing.net/store/more_ar537.html |
