Do you have a lathe? If so, the thread diameter for the barrel extension is 0.8125 inches. The length of the BE threads is 0.622 inches. The diameter of the barrel shoulder for the BE threads should be on the order of 0.900 inches or so. I use standard raw blanks from Shilen and Krieger. Good luck. Charles the Gunsmith.

| Just updated my info, was in WA, got transferd to VT. It's a good thing because all the equipment is in NH about an hour from where i live now. I'm closing on a house in a week so then i'll have a place to set up at. I'm thinking about building a better dedicated .22lr upper. I've got a kuhel barrel and a ciner kit, but i think there is room for improvment, and could be fun to make. There is also my NM rifle, i figure it's got another 1500 rds in it before i'll need to do something about it. so i'll be turning a barrel for that too next year some time. I figure after the cost of tooling and a barrel blank i'll still be ahead of the game, unless i mess up the blank that is. |
| Do you have any machining experience? if not i would strongly suggest you have someone teach you the basics. These machines can and will hurt you ...severly, i have seen people lose body parts in the blink of an eye working in machine shops. I have been a tool and die maker for 24 yrs. and i am lucky enough to have all my body parts still attached. 1911 builder had a good sugestion practice on some cold rolled steel or alum. before you spend your money on a barrel blank. have fun and be CAREFULL!!
