I have decided on mid 16 5.56 for my barrel choice but now trying to decided a manufacturer.  Any help as always will be greatly appreciated.

1.   Rainier Arms Selectâ„¢ 5.56MM MEDCON Barrel - 16
2.   Yankee Hill (YHM-47-TF) 16" Fluted 1:7 Chrome Lined
3.    PSA 16" 5.56mm, 1:7, CMV CL MP HP, Mid-length Barrel - A2 Profile
4.   Bravo Company / BCM BFH 16" Mid Length Barrel, Stripped
5.   Or some other manufacturer.

I really like the Rainer Arms but I do not think that they ever will be available, what are your guys thoughts.  This will be for my home defense go out and waste ammo.  Again, thank you for all of the valuable info that all of you give to us newbies.

Thank you for your response very shocked I did not receive more.  If there is something I am doing wrong please let me know.  Would like some feed back, want to make sure that I am very happy with my first build, or am I way over-thinking this.  Again all help is appreciated..

The rainier arms barrel is stainless steel, and then there's also a hammer forged barrel, what do you want in a barrel? What will you use it for?

The biggest problem  with these types of questions are that everyone has a different opinion based on their preference of what they want/like.  Really you couldn't go wrong with any of the barrels you have listed. Pick one that you think works best for you for what you're going to do and  you should be set.

As someone already said, it depends on what you want to use the rifle for. I have a rainier barrel on my precision rifle and it works great. But I wouldn't want it on my home defense weapon because its heavy. BCM is a great barrel (I also have one of those and a Daniel Defense barrel). Chances are you won't be able to tell a difference in accuracy between standard barrels. Maybe the rainier but the others will all pretty much blend together.

As I stated, this is my first build, and want it to be special.  Its primary use is for home defense but I will definitely go out and shoot it.  I will eventually build a second upper for long shooting possible 6.8 or 308.
Also has anyone bought from VeriForce Tactical looking for a forearm they have one for a great price have it narrowed down this one on one from Yankee hill?

If it's only for plinking and home defense (not competition shooting or long range work) most people would recommend getting a chrome lined (or alternatively a nitrided) barrel. So, any in the list except the Rainer Arms one. If you want it anytime soon, you're best bet is the Bravo Company one (YHMs haven't been in stock anywhere since before the craziness).  Get the one that's regular button rifled instead of CHF, they're only $240 instead of greater than $300.
