[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Barrel Length Question??

What would be the shortest barrel length for an AR so it would still be considered a rifle not a pistol? Any pic? Thanks I am very new to ARs.

As long as it is on an SBR (short barrel rifle) lower you can go as short as you want. The difference is between rilfe and pistol is wether you have a stock on it or not.

The shortest you can go on a rifle without involving the ATF is 16".
