Generally speaking, how many rounds can you put thru a CL barrel before it's worn out?  How many before you see a significant degradation in accuracy?

I think its very subjective and dependent on tons of variables, mainly how much rapid fire someone does.

But anywhere from 10,000-25,000 rounds I think

Hasn't the Pat Rogers BCM Filthy 14 got more than 40,000 throu it now and he says it is still more accurate than most shooters?

To Cameron yes absolutely...and under 4" @ 50 yds I think he said.

I tend to think about 10k rounds.  It will still be functional for about another 10k but the accuracy will start to be degraded.  this will also be dependent on type of ammo and rates of fire, etc.

Im sure the #14 rifle at a Pat Rogers class got shot slow, rapid and what ever else and in the hands of different people all the time that will take its toll on a weapon as well like any other training weapon and it was still shooting fine....so much for the effect of abuse on function.Ill shoot my barrels till rounds start key holing then it will be time for a change out.

Yes thats combat accurate considering that 95% of armed engagements take place well under 50 yds..I beleive in the service as long as a weapon will still group 4" and under its still fine...in combat no ones ever gonna practice breathing and let off not under stress of shooting and being shot at and shooting on the move so yea if the weapons grouping at 2 or 3 inches the only thing thats gonna count is hits.So if I get off a well aimed center mass shot what does it matter if I catch the left side of the heart even if I let off a dead center shot..either way the bad guys in rough shape with a chest shot...no one shoots for groups in combat only hits count.

+1 for "pun".
The big answer to the question of barrel life for 99.99% of all folks that own or shoot an AR............YOU WILL NEVER SIGNIFICANTLY WEAR YOUR SEMI-AUTO CL BARREL TO EFFECT ACCURACY LET ALONE WEAR IT OUT(from shooting).   Remember, 10,000 rounds of ammo will cost you $2,500.00 at a minimum fractoring in s&h or tax. ........Mike
