Hello all

I am having a problem...I have a ArmaLite barrel (looks thicker than an Hbar) and the barrel nut will not slide off the barrel...I have never had this problem before...I am trying to install a FF tube...The barrel nut is loose and will turn, but not slide forward...how do I get this thing off ...I have no clue

Is the barrel one of those Golden Eagle barrels? If so, they are thicker than a HBAR barrel and most float tubes will not fit. If I am not mistaken, they install the barrel nut before they install the barrel extension. The only way to make one of these barrels fit a float tube is to turn it down on a lathe. This would also allow the barrel nut to slide off as well.

Sounds like you need to remove the receiver extension and then have it put back on, it would be much easier to have the barrel machined down just enough to allow the barrel nut to slide off.  If it isn't a chrome lined barrel.  I'd have somebody like Kurt of KKF in the Industry forum do either kind of work.

If you're sure the new barrel nut will fit, then just cut the old one off with a Dremel.  Cut the majority of the way through and then use a screwdriver to twist the cut open splitting the barrel nut.
