Who can make a barrel for me, or re-machine the one I have to a smaller diameter?   Which way should I go?

My existing barrel is a nearly new (~200 rounds) RRA 0.920" diamter, 16" long stainless steel varmint barrel.  It's fairly heavy and a smaller diameter would reduce the weight.  Let's say a diameter of about 0.820"

If I use the existing barrel, I'll need a new gas block and possibly a new front sight riser.  I also lose the rifle while it's being worked on.  By the time I pay for two-way shipping for the old barrel and get the new parts I might be better off buying a new barrel assembly.

If I order a new barrel, it's no sweat waiting until it arrives.  Then it's easy to install and ready to go.

KKF or Steve@ADCO in the industry forums can re-profile your bbl.

I had the same dilema and I opted to just get a new bbl.

Great web link, thanks.  I noticed they are in The People's Republic of Santa Monica, CA.  Who would have thought that?

There are no ARs with a 1 Shell limit.  They have a 1 Cartridge (or round) limit.

Shells are used in shotguns, rifles use cartridges.

Armalite as in Genesco, Ill or as in Costa Mesa, CA?

As Troy is no doubt alluding to.

There are NO pre-federal ban Armalite lowers - none-zip-zilch-zero-nada.  Armalite in Ill didnt exist to the late/mid 1990s.

The only 'pre federal AW ban' lowers from Armalite were from the original Armalite of Cosa Mesa CA.  It would be some 40 years old, the old design (no raised fencing - pinned in receiver extension) and be worth a whole bunch on the collectors market.
