I found a great deal on some AR barrels, maybe. They are chambered, profiled and threaded for the extension, no gas port drilled. My question is-is an AR barrel chamber usually done before or after the barrel extension is put on? I can put the extension on and drill the gas port and even re-profile if needed, I understand about alignment, torque values, index pin and gas port sizes and placement , I just do not know about the chamber and headspace, never tried this. I do have headspace gauges for the calibers I will be using. Thanks.

Port drilling happens after the extension is installed.

Understand that, the alignment of the port is done after the extension and index pin are completed. I am asking about the chamber of the barrel, when is it done-before or after the extension is on.
