[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Barrel clean ?

I shot my Del-ton M4 this weekend.
Cleaning the barrel I ran a brush and swabs soaked in cleaner.
I found It odd I had to run swab 10-12 times before it started to look clean and then it looked on the gray side

Is this common ?

using a loop patch holder and cheap patches, yes it is common. Using a Jag and quality double nap cotton flannel patches no not common.

Make sure you are using the correct patch size or it will be to tight in the bore. Spear the patch in the center (a little to the side/off center makes it easier to push it through the barrel). The brass jag makes the patch fit tightly 360 degrees and it squeegees out the bore and gets it much cleaner then a loop set up.

You will never get a patch to come out completely white, especially if you continue to run a brash brush followed buy a patch. A gray patch = clean barrel in my book.

You can. you just have to clean your brushes, and rod

that level of clean is not needed.
