I'm having my LR-308 18" bull barrel  (.930) fluted and threaded. So my question is , do I just flute under the handrail before the gas block ? Or the entire length ? Or flute it before the gas block and have the rest taken down to .750? I'm trying to lighten it up a bit. This is a 3/4" 5 shot rifle or I would just buy a new barrel. Thanks

If you haven't already chosen someone to do the work - I highly suggest ADCO.

I would suggest considering re-profiling to .875 and flute (under hand guard) then .750 at the gas block and taper forward of the gas block to .740 at the shoulder of the threads.  This assumes you will have 5/8x24 threading with 11* target crown and a rifle length gas system.

It's too bad DPMS doesn't sell the barrel from their REPR - really accurate and light.

Edited a few times =)

There are many more gas block options in .750 than in any other size.
