We installed a Colt Socom barrel in what I think was a Colt upper. After the install looking inside the upper recievier I noticed the M4 feed ramps were out alittle farther than the ramps on the barrel extension. And it being late at night took out the Dremel and took alittle material off of the uppers ramps to meet the barrel ramps.
The next day I took another look and noticed the Barrel extension was about a 1/16 of a inch from the lip inside the upper where I guess it's suppose to butt against. I know we tightened the barrel nut about 3 good time so the barrel is on tight.
How bad did I screw up?

Is there a step-up in the lip between the upper and the barrel extension?

Yes, The barrel extension looks to be about a 1/16 from that step up. That's looking inside the ejection port at the opposite side of the reciever.

I just found the pictures of the Barrel extensions on this forum and they look the same as mine. I guess they give extra clearance for barrel extension length variances.
