I plan on taking off the factory Mini Y comp muzzle brake on my Bushy and putting in an A2 birdcage (classic look).  Unfortunately the A2 FH is a 1/2 inch shorter than the Mini Y comp so my total barrel length will be 15 1/2 inches (the barrel has to be a minumum of 16 inches, right?).  What should I do to come up with the 1/2 inch to make my barrel the legal length?  Should I even worry?  I really don't want to put on a different type of flash hider.  Thanks.

There are a few companies that make A2 flash hiders that are longer.  Don't even think about not having a long muzzle device, it isn't worth 10 years.

You need to attach a muzzle device of some sort permanently to reach a 16 inch length.

Two options I know of, are adding a Phantom Flash hider (one I took) or I believe Kurt's Kustom Firearms makes an A2 type flash hider that is lengthened. Either is enough to make legal length on a 14.5" barrel, if attached in a way BATF considers permanent.
