I am doing a SPR build I have found two barrels currently in stock. I have no experience with Nordic and limited knowledge of the DD Barrel. Any quick feed back would be helpful. I have already let two other barrels get sold out while doing research.
DD 18" 5.56mm S2W® Mid-length CHF Barrel 1:7 - Stripped ,Blue finish $279 Nordic Components .223 Wylde 18" rifle length gas, 1:8 Competition Barrel - stripped, SS finish $265 |

I can only speak to the Daniel Defense barrel. It is manufactured by Cold Hammer Forging in-house at Daniel Defense. It is treated with a melonite finish that will increase lifespan of that barrel by 30% +/-. Make sure your low-profile gas block fits under your chosen rail. Daniel Defense makes the Mk12 low profile gas manifolds for Crane NSW. They use that to build SPRs for SOCOM. It easily fits under the Daniel Defense RIS II rail system 12" rail.
I would be inclined to go with the Daniel Defense tube over the Nordic Components example. For my own use, I am looking at having Compass Lake making me a rifle length 18" SPR barrel out of either a Douglas XX or Krieger blank. That optiion will cost $200.00 more than what you are looking at for not a huge increase in accuracy. Perhaps someone will pipe up about the Nordic Components option. Best of luck with your build. L/D Thanks but I lucked out and got a Wilson SPR barrel. |
