I'm planning on building a midlength upper using a LaRue 12 inch free float and am looking for some help deciding on a barrel. I'd like a medium weight barrel, I'm not too concerned with a little extra weight. I have plinkers and lightweight carbines and would like to build more of a precision semi-auto. I have been looking around a little bit and am interested in Denny's recon barrel and CMMG's 16" M10 Multi-role as well as their 18" SPR barrel. I am wondering what everyone's experiences are with the accuracy of the CMMG barrels. I am open to any and all suggestions. If you can recommend an accurated barrel that fits what I am looking for I would really appreciate it. |

I can't speak for the CMMG barrels, but my White Oak Armament SPR barrel will shoot 1/2 MOA all day long with 77 grain Black Hills blue box. This barrel is turned in house by John Holliger's group at White Oak and is made from match grade Wilson barrel blanks. These guys build DCM guns for a living It is medium profile, 18", 1/7", and uses a Wylde chamber. It's also stainless, which will outshoot a chrome-lined barrel. ![]()
