I'm trying to finish a home defense/carbine course/ possible shtf 16" midlength ar build. What are my options for buying a 16" midlength medium weight barrel that comes melonited and uses 4150 steel or better. I'd like to keep it around $250 if possible, but don't mind paying a little bit more for quality.
Eta- this will be a 5.56 build. |
| I just purchased a Voodoo Innovations 16" mid-length, melonited barrel from PSA. Last time I checked, a couple of hours ago, they still had some in stock at $209. I originally wanted a PSA branded barrel, but I couldn't resist the price of the Voodoo. Everything I've read about Voodoo barrels has been positive thus far in the quality department. |
| Lothar walther and don't look back. For under $200 it's hard to beat the quality or accuracy. |

Very good barrels for the money.
ARP Purchase a matching super bolt for proper headspace assurances. 223 Wylde chamber also. |

Maybe head to the arfcom online store and pick up one they are selling for $139?? Support the site? https://store.ar15.com/product.html?cat=45&pr=643 Also gtfoxy: where did you hear he was switching to stainless, from H? And also notice he is OOS on his pertinent stuff at the moment?? And 416 stainless will not be lighter than 4150 with same profile. |

This is a great barrel if you can stand the added weight. But it hits your price point and your getting great value for your money.
Excellently value...just came back in stock yesterday. Been OOS for about a year. Won't last. Rainier Arms Matchâ„¢ .223 Wylde Barrel - 16 - $259 more info here |
