5 of us are currently building our own AR's. I am the guy doing the ordering of parts and looking into things for the rest of them. One of the guys asked me if stainless steel barrels are or can be bought with chrome lining. He also asked what the benefit of stainless barrels were over standard with chromed lining. Anyone know? We will be using these for law enforcement. We want a weapon you can go into a house with and one I can shoot 100 yrds with as well.

You can get stainless or chrome lined, not both.

Stainless can be more accurate, while chrome lined will last longer.

I remember someone saying they owned a Noveske stainless that was chrome lined.

Denny had a run made by Noveske, from talking to him I don't think he's going to do another run.  That's the only CL stainless barrel made that I know of.

For LE use, unless we're talking about designated marksman or sniping rifles here, I'd go with a good chrome lined barrel or complete upper, like the LMT.  An LMT chrome lined barrel is going to be PLENTY accurate for typical LE engagement distances.  If you want pinpoint accuracy there's nothing wrong with using a medium weight stainless either, but I wouldn't worry about missing out on anything without the chrome lining in the stainless barrel.
