Im about to pick up a new 6920 privately. I want to make sure it is all genuine and no parts have been substituted. Colt does mark their Bolts/BCG's correct? Is it marked "C MP"? What other things could I look for to ensure Authenticity? Are their uppers marked?

Here's an example of the "MPC" marked on my 6920's bolt:

Upper receiver markings are not always a letter "C":
Some are stylized letter "D" logo of Diemaco, now Colt Canada.
Ref. Stylized letter "D" logo of Diemaco (Colt Canada) Bolt markings: MPC C Ground down MPC and a large "C" engraved on it MPXC - where letter X are month letters codes MPD - Colt Canada (Diemaco) Barrel markings on top of barrel in front of front sight: "C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7" Ref: http://www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/barrelsbolts/ Markings in front of upper receiver above the gas tube hole: "M4" - See pic for correct font type in my link, if it is a different letter font it is a copy. Ref. see pic in this tread: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=12&t=444262 Receiver extension (buffer tube) size are mil-spec and four positions: 1.14" outer diameter (should not be the larger 1.17" diameter of commercial tube size) Ref: http://www.magpul.com/pdfs/technotes/ctr/buffertubeid.pdf |
