Being new to AR, a basic lower parts kit without trigger, with a basic grip, is something like $50, give or take. Price goes up for fancy grips, ambidexterous, exotic materials, markings or construction. I know the trigger is super important (which is why it will be a separate purchase), but what kind of factors separate one basic LPK from another? It will be going into a PSA stripped lower.

As far as I know there are only 4 (maybe 5) LPK manufacturers in North America - 1 in Canada and the rest are US. They provide parts to everyone to slap their own names on. General rule of thumb from what I have read is stick with the North American LPKs and you are good to go. LPKs are made in Turkey and elsewhere are of inferior quality.
Since you are buying a PSA stripped lower then add their LPK to your order. I have used plenty of these and they work just fine. CMMG also provides a good LPK (at least the two that I installed). And honestly, the triggers included in these kits are just fine as far as Mil-Spec type stuff goes. |

CHAD just buy a whole LPK. then you will have extra parts if you ever need them. The factors are quality of parts. I have a lot of AR's and have bought many more LPK's than I need. IMHO the Anderson basic LPK's are the worst, cheapest quality I have and the triggers suck. DelTon LPK's are better and have good triggers. The Best LPK's I have are from CMMG and Spikes. You said you will swap triggers and that's fine, but the other parts in the kits matter too. Get a kit with ALL quality parts, then drop in your trigger. And know you have quality leftover parts if you ever need them and theres a pretty good chance you will later. (parts break) |

Ive bought quite a few LPK's without the trigger. You can usually find them on sale for sub $30. Why spend the extra money if you're not going to use the factory trigger parts? I am not shopping in the right places to find sub $30 LPKs. CHAD It's easy to find them without the trigger group for that price. |

Red barn armory has custom lpk kits Cool. This kit seems to come with the very basics for $25, which is a little less than sourcing each of these parts on their own. From the site: Base Kit includes: Pivot Pin, detent and spring Takedown Pin, detent and spring Magazine Catch Assembly Bolt Catch Assembly Selector spring and detent Buffer detent and spring Grip Screw (1/4-28 x 1") and Washer Some of the add-on parts are a little more expensive than buying a more complete mil-spec LPK elsewhere. http://www.redbarnarmory.com/Build-Your-Own-Custom-AR15-Lower-Parts-Kit-LPK-p/rbacustomar15lpk.htm CHAD |

Good find! I've been clicking on many of the retailers advertising here to get an idea of what is available. These LPKs in similar price range are all of similar quality? CHAD |

I should have bought two. They restocked them in the middle of the sale, and they are out again, so I don't know when to expect them back, or at what price. |
