Battle Arms Development Enhanced Pins Set

*** Coming Soon - Be on the notification for our 1st batch.  Click on a photo for ordering info and pricing ***

Description:

Battle Arms Development Enhanced Pins set consists of the ETP (Enhanced takedown pin) and EPP (Enhanced Pivot Pin). Precison CNC machined from bar stock, the EPS are made from hardened 12L14 steel and finished in milspec maganese phosphate, the EPS features the following improvements:

  • Keystone shaped and dimpled pivot pin head, knurled circumference and a reverse angled flat between 1 and 2 o'clock of the take down pin head for improved gripping surface.

  • 0.030 longer length aids in pushing the pins out, without undue protrusion.

  • Low profiled pin heads, the ETP is compatible with ambidextrous selector's right lever.

  • Bullet tip guide at the tip of the pins to prevent the bullet or tool from slipping off and scratching the receiver, when a bullet or tool is used to push the pins in.

  • Easy, hassle free magnet assisted installation. Secondary detent hole and groove milled past the milspec detent hole and groove on the pivot pin, with the help of a small magnet (included), make installation of the pivot pin effortless.

Each BAD-EPS comes with the ETP and EPP, two KNS detents, two pin springs, and a magnet for magnet assisted installation. Proudly designed and manufactured in the USA.

Just watched the video. I've been doing something similar for years but without the grooved channel and it works very well. Great idea, Roger!

Thanks!  The secondary hole and groove idea came first, and made better by the use of a small magnet.  It may be a single use feature unless you install a lot of them at a manufacturer or shop, but it didn't cost us much to incorporate it, and it seems most people know about the EPS by the magnet assisted install, so it worked out well

As usual, the name follows our naming convention, nothing fancy, just does the job of properly describing the product.  The BAD-ASS name is a coincidence, (Battle Arms Dev. Ambidextrous Selector Switch), for better or worse, is shortened to BAD-ASS

Excellent innovative idea.

Any chance at making the same product but having the pins 0.001" oversized on the OD to help take up receiver slop?

9/25/2013 5:41:31 PM EDT
[#16]
For that, please stay tuned

Oversized pins won't be a line item for us, as the EPS, as designed, are supposed to be easier to push in and pull out, without creating side effects such as incompatibility with the ambidextrous selector lever.  Oversized pins run contrary to that design goal, so the standard EPS will not be oversized.

That said, there's development under way in precise that direction for one of our partners.

A slightly undersized pin will always work with most, if not all in spec upper and lower, an oversized pin may not work with all of them.  The ones being developed for this partner are specifically done for their receivers, no decision has been made regarding their being sold separately, though I think there will be enough clamor for it

I surmised as much and nearly put that in my post.  I'll stay tuned to see what you do develop in that direction.

The Arms Guide EPS review

Snagged set of these enhanced pins for my MRP and my DDLES 9mm build. They are definitely a nice improvement over other pins. The magnet install is stupid easy. I never really had an issue installing the detent in the past, but this is certainly easier. I'll use these type of pins from now on in the future on other builds. I was able to source a Seekins billet bolt release for my builds from BAD as well.

Ordered, recieved, installed = no issues.  I'd never installed a standard set of pins before, but these were easy as pie even for a newbe using nothing more than the simple directions on the back of the bubble pack they came in.

I love the fact that thet stick out just a little further than standard pins.  Make pushing them in much easier.

I just installed one of the BAD enhanced pin sets on my new AR build.  My issue was that the pins were wicked tight and very hard to work.  The fit between my MI billet upper and AR15Targets billet lower is almost too tight.  Unless you were to push the upper down onto the lower, the takedown pin was a major pain to push out and then pull to open up.  Forcefully with a bullet or tapping it out with something was the only way to get it started.  The pivot pin was almost impossible to push out unless you were to pivot the upper about 20-30 degrees and then you could pop it out.  I tried three sets of standard pins from the extra parts had I had with the same results.  Not only were the BAD pins easy as hell to install but the solved my problems.  Both pins are much easier to pop out and then pull out due to its design.  The takedown pin especially.  These things are awesome!  Definitely getting another set for my next build!

What's the dimple for in the middle of the pin head? Just to locate center?
10/4/2013 4:47:20 AM EDT
[#37]
The bullet guide is large enough to accommodate not only a 5.56mm bullet tip, but a .30cal as well.  The purpose is to auto center the bullet's tip or tool, should either be required to push the pins in to give it a start.

Many have marred their receivers because the punch, bullet tip, or whatever tool  they happened to have on hand slipped off the pin head while using these devices to push the pin in.  Personally I don't mind a scratched receiver, but for some users with expensive or rare receivers, I can appreciate their desire to keep them in good shape

[#38]
Duffy, I meant the nipple on the right side in the center of the pins.
10/4/2013 5:36:04 AM EDT
[#39]
Oh that
It doesn't serve any purpose, it's there because it'd be very costly to remove it and its presence doesn't have any impact.  The pin head has a concave shape to it, the nipple is the result of the way the material is removed to create the concave shape.

Glad I wasn't missing some obvious function.

Duffy, I've been a huge fan of the KNS parts kits.  They are a super clean, consistently sized, quality option I have on all of my rifles.

How would you say these compare in dimensions to the KNS pins?  Can we expect similar sizing and consistency from pin to pin?

Awesome freakin' idea on these.

[#48]
Awaiting Brownell's order, we know it should be here soon.

Re: pin tolerances, we're holding 0.0005 tolerances, the consistency is as good as that of our selector centers, which are made on the same machines

yep!

I'm not sure about the stock status, if Mike doesn't have any, Rainier Arms should tomorrow or Thursday
