I just picked up a Battle Comp 2.0. It will need to be pinned onto a new barrel when I get the parts due to legal reasons. I do not plan on staying where im at for too much longer and will be moving to a state where I will be able to obtain a silencer.

Do any of you think a Gemtech Halo will have trouble being installed on the comp if I send it to ADCO and have them pin it? I dont think it will be an issue but want to make sure before I ruin a $150 part....

Thanks for any advice you all can give.

Best thing to do is call Adco and get it straight from the horses mouth.

I guess ill do that. Have not done business with them yet so wanted to see what others thought. Its for my old duty rifle and I dont want to screw it up and regret the end result.

Just FYI the 2.0 will not meet the 16" requirement if pinned on a 14.5" barrel. If you have to pin it on regardless, go for it. I don't see a problem with mounting the Halo on as long as the pin is ground flush and nothing sticks up past the mount.

Its goin on a 16". I was thinking the same thing. My only concern is i know silencers can be touchy on alignment. But the more i think about it... as you said as long as its not sticking up then there shouldnt be any problem at all.

If your putting it on a 16" barrel why does it have to be pinned?

Im in one of those ban states temporarily and cant have my upper here till it has a comp pinned on. I wouldnt do it if i knew i was only here for a year but it could end up being a little longer so i figure might as well. the battle comp seems to be damn good so i wont regret having it on there for good (as long as i can retain its suppressor compatibility) which seems very likely. I cant wait to move.

Well that sucks!  I don't see it being a problem as long as the weld is flush with the comp.

I would leave it off until I moved.

Many suppressor companies won't warranty their product when used on a pinned muzzle device.

I guess that shouldnt be a surprise, but just to satisfy my curiosity... Why? Has it been known to cause failures or damage to the suppressor?

Why not, the length or because its a compensator and not a FLASH HIDER. I cant imagine what BATF had in mind. Its just about over all length isnt it? I dont get why they have that part of the law. The 2.0 is long enough but just not the correct item?

a 14.5 barrel must have a 1.5 or longer muzzle device pinned on permanently  for a OAL of 16/16.1. A barrel can not be shorter than 16 with out obtaining the SBR permit. In my case, the state i live in requires you to have a permanently attached compensator (no flash hiders allowed) on any threaded barrel (no threaded barrels allowed on firearms with detachable mags and a rear pistol grip). If you have a 14.5 and want to use it in a build with out paying for an SBR you need the proper length muzzle device. If you wanted a battle comp for that it would be the version 1.5 which is extended for use on 14.5 barrels. Hope that answers your question.  Of course im no lawyer so dont take any of this as fact for all ban states, im just a former officer that tries to keep up with what they allow and then take away every other month here..... HAHA. It all really is a little silly.
