I have an M-4 configuration with 16" barrel. Will a bayonet fit on this rifle, despite the fact that a real M-4 has a 14.5" barrel?

yes it will fit, but you will not have a full blade protruding

it will not look right, or stab right

There is a bayonet available that has an extension on the handle so that it fits properly on a 16" barrel.  The price will turn you off though, $69.95 from PreBanArms.

AHA!  Thanks, I've been looking for that puppy.

Now if I could just find a bayo for my early preban Polytech AKS (takes the Type 1 bayo).

I see they also have an adaptor for use with the Colt/Solingen M7 bayo which I happen to already have - so $29 for it.  Gotta get one complete though since I have 2 carbines (or will whenever that 6920 finally comes in).

Pretty dang smart of them actually.  I had not noticed that the Colt Eichorn-Solingen M7s had an allen screw attached endpiece in their pommell.  They replace that with the pommell extension and a new screw to give the length needed for proper bayo attachment with the 16" carbines.

If the Bradies only knew what the REAL reason for bayos are :)

Carbines (AR and AK) are too damn short to fit in the spaces in my gunsafe.  A fixed bayo fixes that problem :)

does this mean you have your new Colt, EarlB?

Hopefully so.

Good shooting!

I haven't gotten the 6920 yet...still should.  I need to call tomorrow and see what the schedule is.  Last I hard, should be another week or two.

I did get my 6520 from Cascade Armory.  Beautifull carbine.  Posted pics of it in the "Show your Colt Thread" one or two threads above this one.
