Ok good. Im hung up here guys. I like the BFH barrel more than the standard because I own both and I know the BFH is more durable. I have run around 20 k through bother of them and the BFH is much more accurate and the inside of the bore looks the same as the day I bought it. I dont run free float rails so the magpul will do just fine on the 14.5. I cant believe the 16 BFH is out of stock. Damn.

If you really prefer the 16" I would practice a little bit of patience.  No need to compromise on what you really want.

Well I like the 14.5 I just wanna make sure that the Fsc 556 muzzle brake is pinned with the shims and not the crush washer because it is shown on their website with the crush washer. Anybody have one.

I have a BCM 14.5" upper with the "standard" barrel.  I love it, but I am going to make it my back up and buy a new 14.5" BFH upper to replace it as my main rifle.  I also run pmc bronze 55 grain for plinking.  When you say the BFH has been more accurate for you with the pmc compared to the "standard" barrel how much of a difference are you seeing?

I can't answer your question about the pinned compensator because I run A2X flash hiders on mine.

I mean in general it has held up longer with all types of ammo. But not by much.

So you are saying the "standard" barrel's accuracy started to diminish sooner than the BFH barrel and not so much that it was more accurate when both were new?

Rainier has a BFH 16"
G&R has both BFH 16" LW and Gov Profile
Gun Gallery may have them but you have to call...

My BCM 14.5 lightweight,  mid length , carbine buffer runs any ammo I've tried, steel case, brass what ever
Wolf, PMC, American Eagle, Lake City, Penatrators, 556  223 no problems, I prefer Black hills 223 75gr HPs its a tack driver with that stuff

I would say the accuracy of both was about the same when new but yes the standard barrel's accuracy definatly diminished faster than the Bfh. I really haven't been able to tell that any accuracy loss has happened with the Bfh and it has many thousands of rounds. Bcm should have another "Filthy 14" but with a Bfh midi.

I have 2 of those same 14.5 BCM BFH uppers.  Last year I put about 1200 round through both of them each in a 4-5 day period with one cleaning at the 200ish round mark.  I used a dozen brands of ammo to include WOLF and silver bear.  I mixed mags with different brands, got it hot, ran them dry.  Not a single problem using a standard carbine buffer in each.

I am going to try it with an H1 buffer. I hear an H2 works sometimes. Gonna make it the softest shooter possible.

Does the perm attached flash hider affect any accuracy or anything outside the norm.

My BCM 14.5" BFH with Miculek Comp/Brake Mid length , w/Carbine buffer runs Wolf Mil-Classic, PMC, American Eagle, Lake City, Penatrators, 556  223 no problems..

Does not like the cheap Tula 223 crap though.. has issues with bolt not cycling rearward enough to catch the next round every time consistently..

I am gonna try it with an H1 buffer first and some PMC bronze. I also have some AE223. You guys think I should maybe break it in on 500 rounds of XM855 first? That would probably loosen things up a bit. I was wondering, does the slightly shorter barrel shorten life span of the barrel compared to a 16"?

Im not one to really care about free float handguards, I just like to use the magpul one. I think I will like the 14.5. I shall  let you know tonight after work.
