| Hey guys Im getting ready to order a bcm carbine or bcm mid upper. First what would you reccomend? This upper is going on my sig m400 lower and it is currently an m4 style rifle. I have a bcm bolt with about 800-1000 rounds on it. Can I use my used bcm bolt and sig m400 carrier in the new upper or should i order the new upper with a brand new bcm bcg? |
| Dude, for many people on here, 1000 rounds is just getting warmed up. If you have headspace gauges, that's the best way to check. If you have the ability, keep a barrel with a bolt. If you're getting a new barrel, I wouldn't hesitate too much with only 1K on my bolt. |

And your bolt is fine. |
| So swapping out bolts wont wear out the barrel extension? I ordered the upper but couldnt afford the bcg so i am going to use my used bolt which is bcm bolt. it has around 1000 rounds on it and looks pretty good still. then when i can afford it i am going to buy a brand new bcm bcg and put that in the bcm upper..G2G? |
| slap the upper on the BCG in and go to town..........the whole middy/carbine thing is mute......you going to put more rounds in your rifle than lets say a carbine in afghanistan? how many rounds do those things have in them? get what you like and dont listen the BS....if a part gets worn out so be it.....buy a new part and be done with it......middy/carbine whats more reliable? both the same shit.....take care of your rifle and it will take care of you........put both in your hands what feels better? toss a coin? what ever you need to do to pick whats best for you. |

oh i have already chosen and got the carbine..i just want to make sure i can use the old bcg and then when i can afford a new bcg swap that one in without causing any excellerated wear. You might have to head space the bolt if you run it any length of time, if it's a S&W BCG I would just leave it in the BCM and get a new BCG for the S&W upper if you have it and do a lower for it. These might do the trick http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XDADBCG10016 I'm going to grab one of those next time they get them in stock as a spare |

The only way you'll ever know for sure is to check it with the headspace gauges you have. Nobody here can tell you definitively if you will have a headspace issue or not, only you can figure that out. |
