Hey guys so I went shooting today and my 14.5 bfh upper is doing something weird.  Ill get prone and start shooting and i notice it will shoot a nice tight group but then the point of impact starts to drop. gun is resting on magazine like monopod nothing is touching the barrel. What gives? Nice tight group, then drops about 2 inch? This is at 50 yards. Does heat have anything to do with it because the barrel was getting hot.

Someone please help. I was very frustrated with this today and have never experienced this but then again this is my first 14.5 midi. I am thinking the heat because it did it when it got hot I think. any suggestions.

most barrels will change POI after they get hot compared to cold. i have 1 DPMS bull barrel upper that wont group well until its had about 6-8 shots then after that as long as you dont let the barrel get cold it will shoot nice tight groups.

Weird...I should also add that this is the XM193 (American Eagle) in the mini ammo can, 120 rounds. I had AWSOME accuracy with M855 though. Like I have said before I really don't care about superb accuracy because I shoot fast paced but I would like some decent accuracy capabilities.

Are you using open sights, a scope, a red dot?

Just wanted to report back. Just got back from the range and I figured out was the problem was. Shooting off my magazine was bouncing the rifle just a small amount causing my groups to shit. Sandbag and off hand today at 50 yards was very tight groups with M855, Wolf Gold, Pmc Bronze, and Independence 5.56.
