I would have thought this would be obvious. Guess not.
I have a 16" bbl with a 15" rail so the rail stops well short of the muzzle brake but even so I was on the look out for any signs of rail impingement for the first few rounds. Quoted:
Never run your rail all the way to the end of the muzzle device. |

Stronger rail? By all means, ask the rail maker if his float will take 16,000 psi from a brake which turns the muzzle blast back onto it. Has anyone seen thin brakes made of extruded aluminum? The few CNC aluminum brakes are known to spray molten metal and have a short life, much less the carbon steel ones.
Check the blast pressure at the muzzle - scroll down to the pressure chart: http://www.sadefensejournal.com/wp/?p=1093 No, you don't want to have any side ported muzzle device with exhaust that impacts the forend. At the least you blow money on a replacement and it's replacement. |

I think you should focus your wisdom on the one that built that gun and not me. |

Yep. I've seen this several times already. Quoted:

A multi port brake completely under a rail, not a good idea. Yep. I've seen this several times already. Really? If people are commonly running their rail out past the muzzle, then I fear for our country. |

What's with the broken handguard on the ground in that pic? ETA: Please tell me it wasn't "well, the rail must've failed" so one was replaced, and it did the same thing with rail #2. That's crazy. I bet now they are thinking "we need a even bigger brake & even longer rail" |
Are you trolling us op, or do you have pictures of it before. Looking at the blast pattern on the inside of that rail, I don't believe that the rail stopped short of the brake. Also is that another damaged rail in the bottom of the tractor bucket...
PS are you using 7.62x39 by chance? |

True, but that is not what is being discussed. Quoted:

Never run your rail all the way to the end of the muzzle device. There's no problem if it's a linear, flash can or suppressor. True, but that is not what is being discussed. Well then what is being discussed? Based on the picture provided...this was clearly an ID 10T error.
